Points noticed in the girls and boys commercials from the youtube site

Girls commercials

These commercials are advertised towards girls, and they stereotype what girls should do, look like and act like. They also makes you want to buy the products which is the main intentions but through the use of gender it has made young females think they have to behave in a certain way, or look like this in order to be accepted. This is something that is present in most commercials that are aimed at a certain sex as it is how they make sure they aim it clearly at the right target audience. With these adverts it uses all girls to advertise, no male actors, and so this narrows down the target audience straight away. These adverts are stereotyped towards making young girls think they should behave, look or act like the characters shown in the commercial. They make the adverts like this so that it can make young girls aspire to be like the products, therefore selling more of them. The camera techniques used are slow and the voice over or advertiser is always female, making the products seem 'girly'.

Boys commercials

These commercials have been aimed at boys. In the adverts there is a male role model so straight away the boys wil think, oh this isn't for girls, theres boys playing with that toy. The camera movements involved are fast and the cuts are jumpy. These camera movements help make the boys think that the toy is good as they aspire to be more like the actors that are playing with the toys, the toys can move fast and do amazing things, so the boys playing with them are 'cool' therefore the boys then ewant the product so the advert is successful in selling the product.
